Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provides diagnostic imaging information to diagnose patient illnesses by operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs. All duties below are under the direction of a certified Radiological Technologist.
- Answer phone calls and assist with clerical duties within the department.
- Learn radiography and the responsibilities of an x-ray tech, perform and assist with these responsibilities as needed.
- Acquire and document a patient history pertaining to each imaging exam.
- Acknowledge patients, introduce themselves, provide explanations of exam and duration of the exam, answer questions, and thank patient for coming into our hospital.
- Document appropriate ICD-10 Code for each patient history.
- Learn about and operate x-ray equipment in the Radiology department including performing radiographs with a portable x-ray machine, operating the C-arm in surgery, and other related equipment.
- Prepare patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Maintain production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; developing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments.
- Minimize radiation to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
- Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.
- Be willing to cross-train in Computed Tomography and perform related duties as required, including but not limited to: performing venipuncture and successfully starting IV’s for contrast studies, preparing and loading contrast for the injection, operating CT equipment to obtain images. CT cross-training will be done under the direct supervision of a Registered Technologist. Training will be provided to ensure competency to perform CT scans independently and be on-call to provide these services, as determined by the Radiology Manager.
- Be available to cover on-call time on nights and weekends, in coordination with a licensed tech.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Must be enrolled in an accredited ARRT program.

Education/Training/Experience: Currently enrolled in an accredited ARRT program. Basic knowledge of current diagnostic procedures and have a willingness and ability to learn. Knowledge of and ability to use radiologic equipment.
