Description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepares patients and equipment for physical therapist to administer treatments and performs tasks to maintain the department in an orderly condition. Will be responsible for maintaining department stock of necessary supplies.
  • Assist with performing ABI/TBI ultrasounds and with other areas of wound care treatment as directed.
  • Assist therapist as directed in providing pelvic floor rehabilitation examinations and treatment.
  • Prepares equipment such as hot packs, etc. Checks, records and maintains hydrocollator temps.
  • Assist in placement or removal of braces, splints, and slings from patients’ bodies before and after treatments.  Assists therapist to support patient during ambulation and gait training. 
  • Changes linens and cleans and stores equipment after use.
  • Schedules appointments, greets clients in reception area.
  • Communicates with third-party payors, doctors’ offices, etc.
  • Attends administrative and quality improvement meetings.
  • Handles multi-line phones.
  • Enters charges into the operating system, takes actions to optimize reimbursement.
  • Understands pre-authorization and verifies patient insurance.
  • When appropriate, directs patients to other hospital representatives for proper assistance.
  • Presents patients with appropriate documentation for signatures.
  • Adheres to all government regulations pertaining to patient privacy including HIPAA.
  • Participates in quality improvement efforts.
  • Contributes to the vision/culture of the most caring hospital.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
